DAKOTA TOTE (new pdf pattern)
Hello everyone,
today I get to share my newest bag pattern with you, yay!
Dakota Tote is a medium sized bag and finishes at 10’’ wide on bottom x 9’’ tall x 4’’ deep. I think it would make a great everyday purse.
It features two super handy zipper pockets on the inside of the bag and a main zipper closure to help you keep everything neatly and securely inside.
I used a #5 zipper by the foot for both pockets as well as the main closure and I couldn’t be happier with the final result. These zippers are a dream to work with as the teeth are made of nylon so you can easily cut your zippers down to the exact size you need with just simple utility scissors. And they feature a nice, wide zipper tape which adds so much to the finished bag.
I get all my zippers from either Sullivan’s Trim or Zipper Valley.
I used easily accessible designer quilting cotton for both exterior and the lining of the bag. I then added a layer of Pellon Fusible Fleece to the exterior panels and Pellon SF101 interfacing to the lining to ensure the finished bag is strong and sturdy.
And, I used 1’’ wide polyester webbing for both short carrying handles as well as the removable, adjustable shoulder strap. You could use some cotton webbing, too. Just go with what you have on hand.
