VINYL ZIPPER POUCH (new pattern + video)
Hello everyone!
I’m beyond excited to introduce my brand new Vinyl Zipper Pouch sewing pattern to you today, yay!
As soon as I spotted all the gorgeous printed vinyl popping up in my Instagram feed I knew I had to give it a try. I only sewed with vinyl a few times years ago so I was a bit unsure whether I could successfully sew with it using my regular sewing machine and all the standard supplies. I’m happy to say that I didn’t need to purchase any specialty needles or presser feet and the final result was just wonderful.
I used Soft and Stable by Annie foam interfacing for my pouches and I love how wonderfully sturdy, and perfectly squishy their backings are. Pellon foam interfacing would give you the same result. You could also use Pellon fusible fleece, or even a layer of standard cotton batting in a pinch, just remember that the finished pouch will be slightly less sturdy.
The pattern includes measurements (in inches) as well as printable templates to make this handy pouch in FIVE different sizes so you’re sure to find one that fits your needs. The X-Small pouch makes for a great coin or trinket pouch, Small size is perfect to be used as a pencil case or make up bag, Medium size can fit your standard knitting needles, painting brushes, or similar “long-ish” supplies, Large pouch makes for a handy project bag, and the X-Large one can be used to keep one’s quilt blocks neatly organized. I know sewing with a new material like vinyl might sound a bit intimidating, so I recorded a detailed step by step video on how I sewed this pouch for you. I hope you’ll find it useful as well as enjoyable.
