DOLLHOUSE (part 1)
Hello friends!
Today I’d like to tell you about my newest obsession. I completely fell in love with the world of miniatures. I don’t even know how that happened, one minute I’m scrolling through social media and before I know it, I’m putting an order in for tiny furniture :).
I was going to take things slow because I know how consumed I get with new hobbies, but I only lasted a few days before I went to Ikea and got myself a dollhouse. I love the simple lines of this dollhouse (and the reasonable price). I then went ahead and rearranged some of the shelves in my studio to make room for this cutie. Love seeing it every time I walk into my studio.
I quickly realized though that the light color of the walls wasn’t going to suit the house design I had in mind. So I took the house apart and repainted all the edges using a dark walnut stain. I then painted the walls white to give me a nice clean slate to work with.
Have you noticed? I removed the downstairs middle wall to make it feel more spacious.
I then followed this tutorial and started working on the floors of the house.
I used coffee stirrers for the upstairs room, and popsicle sticks for the downstairs and I love both of these floors so very much. I really hope to have a similar floor in my house one day :).
I added a board and batten accent to one of the bedroom walls following this tutorial. I still have to repaint it but I haven’t decided on what the final color will be.
I also followed this tutorial to make some artwork for the walls.
This is what the house looks like so far. I’m loving the direction it’s going and I have many, many ideas on what I still want to add and how to decorate it.
Talk soon, friends.
Wishing you all a happy and creative day! Svetlana
