MONTANA TOTE (new pattern + video tutorial)
Hello everyone,
I have a new bag pattern to introduce to you today and I’m beyond excited about this stylish beauty!
What do you think? This is Montana Tote and she is quite something, isn’t she?
Finished size of this bag is 12’’ wide x 10’’ tall x 5’’ deep, perfect size to be used as an everyday bag.
I’m especially proud of this completely enclosed main zipper closure. It’s something that’s been on my mind for quite some time and I think it’s a great addition to this lovely bag. Not only does it look great, it will also help one keep all the contents of the bag neatly and securely inside.
Oh, and the zipper! Of course I need to gush a bit about this amazing striped zipper by the foot/meter. These nylon zippers have become such a favorite of mine over the last few months. They look great and are you only cut the exact size that’s needed. Plus, you can sew over these nylon teeth with a standard sewing machine and not have to worry about breaking the needle. Just wonderful!
Check out Sullivans Trim (US) or Zipper Zoo (EU) for an amazing selection of these zippers. You won’t be disappointed.
This bag is on a large side, so I knew it needed quite a few pockets to keep everything in place and organized. There’s one roomy zipper pocket and a set of three slip pockets on the inside of the bag, plus one additional exterior zipper pocket.
This bag is also nicely versatile when it comes to materials needed to make it. I used canvas, quilting cotton, and even dry waxed canvas and they all came out beautifully.
And, because I know many of you would like to know, here’s where I got the materials for my Montanas:
Canvas + Quilting Cotton: Hawthorne Supply online fabric shop
Dry Waxed Canvas and Webbing: Zipper Zoo
Zippers: Sullivans Trim and Zipper Zoo
